Wednesday was a national holiday here in Quebec. So I had the whole day to draw, yeah!! So on wednesday morning, I grab my sketchbook and had a little bit of fun. The result was this little indian cat. Hope you like it!
I just started an sketchbook exchange with this amazing artist from Norman, Oklahoma. Her name is Sarah Atlee. She does a lot of beautiful acrylics and I strongly recommend you visit her website or flickr.
Back to the exchange, yesterday, I got home and I had a surprise in the mail: Sarah's sketchbook. With many pages filled with her drawings. It already looked amazing. Now I have to add my touch to it. This is so exciting! Sarah and I have very different styles and having to work with her drawings greatly affects my own drawing... everything feels more artsy (in my point of view) And there's no blank page syndrome. Her work inspires mine. This whole experience is great, very inspiring and fun.
Here is a sneak peek of the sketchbook. It's still work in progress. I'll keep you posted.
inside my sketchbook again, this piece was inspired by the idea that sometimes we do stuff for money that makes us unhappy. I was just thinking of the balance between happiness and money. And it translated into this drawing. So do you follow your heart or do you follow your bank account ??
This piece all started with a hershey's kiss. Don't know why but the silver and brown wrapping appealed to me. And I decided to transform it into a dress. Then the whole theme of Easter and chocolate came to mind.... and translated into this sketch. Hope you like it ! Chocolate is just an eternal source of inspiration to me !
Here is another excerpt of my sketchbook. This one is called Disco Pierrot. I don't know why but these last days I have been obsess by afros. I have been darwing afro girls everywhere and this is the end result. My little afro girl: Miss Disco Pierrot. In the font, you can clearly see the inspiration Eduardo Recife Handmade font had on me. ( You can learn more about Eduardo Recife in this previous blog) Hope you like it !
I also wanted to mention that I will be participating in 2 sketchbooks exchange. I am really excited about this !! And I will keep you posted on all the updates.
So here is another excerpt form my sketchbook. I just wanted to have fun with my new different pencils. I started doing the pattern in the hair... not knowing it was going to become hair... and then when all was done I had this little Marie-Antoinette. It's a big mix of things: lace, fonts, pattern & anatomical images but I find it really cute. Well hope you like this one !
i decided to start a new serie. I wanted to do a lot of images without thinking to much about their purposes or concepts. The Zodiac come to mind. I know it has been done by many others but there's no warm in adding my view on it. Here the first one, the Sagitarius. Hope you like it !
